This Excel spreadsheet has been prepared to provide quick estimates of machine size and injection capacity for molded plastic parts. It has been prepared for use when general purpose resins in the mid range of melt flow are to be processed. For very low or very high melt flows you must apply an adjusting factor based upon past knowledge of the resin. Fill in the blanks as indicated and the program will calculate tonnage requirements and the ideal barrel capacity. For family molds, the cold runner calculator may be used be entering the dimensions of the part in place of the runner sizes. A separate line may be used for each cavity of different area.

There are two worksheets in the spreadsheet: one uses inches and the other uses metric.
