The CACO PACIFIC Apprenticeship Program provides "on-the-job" training as a basis for developing potential moldmakers, moldmaking machining specialists, and design engineers. Successful completion of the apprenticeship program can be a springboard to future growth opportunities, such as CNC programming, design engineering, sales and various supervisory and management positions.
Moldmaking: The program for potential moldmakers and moldmaking machining specialists is a four-year state approved training program that includes classroom instruction and on the job training. Over the four years, the apprentice learns a variety of disciplines depending on the focus, including moldbase detailing and assembly, milling, turning, surface grinding, cylindrical grinding, electrical discharge machining (EDM), basic polishing and mold assembly. Pre-requisites for entering the moldmaker apprenticeship:
Design Engineering: The program for potential design engineers is a four-year training program that includes exposure to many of the disciplines mentioned under moldmakers, but for a lesser time period. This program also includes exposure to hot runner assembly, mold testing and concludes the final year in design engineering at a CAD station. Pre-requisites for entering the design engineering apprenticeship:
